Anti-Virus Policy

Athento runs on servers that use the Ubuntu Server operating system. Linux systems are less prone to being affected by malware because:

  • Programs run on normal rather than root users

  • As open-source software, many more people are checking there is no malware within the code

  • Thousands of experts worldwide strive to prevent and correct vulnerabilities in the code

  • The drivers are constantly updated in Package Managers

  • The software is installed from official repositories

Even so, at Athento, we aim to minimize all possible risks. Our machines are therefore protected by an anti-virus software called ClamAV 0.98. ClamAV is an open-source anti-virus engine that can identify Trojans, virus, malware and other similar risks.

ClamAV is used with a daemon that constantly scans the system, increasing the speed of virus scanning as the program is constantly in memory.

ClamAV has been created for high-performance environments while also being a versatile anti-virus that accepts a wide range of file, compression and signature formats.

Athento's machines are scanned by this anti-virus in order to identify the presence of threats. Once identified, the files are quarantined automatically and an alert is also automatically generated to ensure Athento's incident response processes are launched.

Virus definitions are updated daily by the system.
